Cold Front

There is a cold front on its way here. I like how you can just tell this is happening just by looking at the temperatures for the week. Haha. I'm a nerd, I know.

Here is the cold front on its way:

Map of the US!

You can see the cold front is that big blue line with the triangles. All that rain along it will come through, looks like they are saying this afternoon, and after it will be COLD WEATHER! Why you ask? Well...for one it's a freakin COLD front. And also, the jet stream is dipping down, to the right of it, is usually warmer temperatures, and to the left of it are colder temperatures. Here is a picture from the front page of weather.com:

Jet Stream.

So, get ready for it to be cold!

Today the high is 70...tomorrow the high is 59!

UPDATE!!!: Here are a few pictures from today of this cold front. One of about 30-45 minutes before the sky let loose, and one shortly after it stopped raining!

Before the rain, thunder, lightening, and wind. On campus around 2:30.

After all that stuff, with a few sprinkles. It got rather cool, too. This is by the New River Valley Mall around 6:30.

See? The front is now passed us! And look at that high behind it! Yay! It's going to warm back up to the 80s by next week! :-)

Pretty Sunset!

The pictures don't exactly show how beautiful it was...since I was driving, I couldn't exactly look at the camera at what I was taking, haha. So, for the record, I was looking at the road, and hoping I got a good shot. So here's what I got:

About 7:04 pm.

A little later, with more sky. Pretty skies! :-)

View on 460. The pink was so pretty.

It's FALL

Today a cold front is coming through. So, it'll be a pretty cruddy day. I was hoping to maybe go hiking to get some more good sky shots in the mountains. Oh well! But here is what the front is looking like outside my window:

Stratus Clouds.

Yesterday, was the first day of fall! I forgot my camera, so I couldn't take any pictures at the game. (Go HOKIES!!!) But Kevin and I went to the speedway, and I took some pictures on the way there. Here's a neat one.
First day of fall in the evening.

Sucky Day for Pictures

Since today sucked for pictures (until the end of marching band practice tonight, but I didn't have my camera on me...)...I'll leave today with an older picture!

View from my house a few months ago. Pretty neat clouds.

Today

These are some pictures (except for the last one) that I took today to show the progress of the weather throughout the day. I won't do this everyday. Just some times it neat to see pictures of the same day with different clouds and all. Well, I think it is anyway. Haha. Enjoy.

Valley fog in the morning, view from my driveway at about 8 in the morning.

After taking that picture in my driveway, I get to my car, wipe off the dew with my windshield wipers, and what shows up? ICE?! It got that cold last night...*shakes head*

On campus walking back to Hutchenson Hall after lunch at D2. Here you see Cirrus Clouds which indicate the beginning of the cloud system involved with a warm front.

Later that night, at about 7:20 in the evening. Note more low lying clouds have moved in with the warm front cloud system.

Here, from weather.com, you can see the storm system associated with the clouds that came in today!

Big storm system...

The view as we're going back into Virginia from Maryland.

This is under that big cloud. It's hard to see, but there was about an inch of water on the beltway, and there was a river going down the side. It was pretty crazy.

A few months ago, a big storm system came barrelling through my area. It caused a lot of flooding all up and down the northeast. Especially in the DC area, where my grandparents live.

Today
Mostly sunny. Highs in the mid 60s. Light and variable winds.

Just to get started

Here is a picture that I took at my house. I thought it was really neat because you could see the cloud bulging where it was about to rain, and then out it poured!

Sky Shots

This is my blog for me to share with everyone my weather obsession. :-)
